The meeting between technology and music

The technology of music is intertwined with modern history because since humans began to invent instruments, they also invented musical instruments. But in the last 20 years, technology and music have come together in new ways, changing how people create, share, and consume music.

One of the technological innovations has penetrated our home in recent years and turned it into a smarter home than ever in such a way that it knows what music you want to hear and can even create melodies that dictate body movements.

Many artists argue that the technology of recent years is a double-edged sword, both from the artist’s and the listener’s perspective, and in many ways, has destroyed music as we know it.

They are right.

Since humanity got to know the compact disc, which to some extent replaced the vinyl record and cassettes, we hear music in a compressed version, different from what the artist intended. It worsens when you listen to a song in MP3 format through a cell phone and poor-quality headphones.

With these methods, we lose a lot of information produced in the song in its natural version. The technology developers always start from the assumption that the ear will make the completions.

This is definitely true.

Still, when you cut the sound and make it too compressed, it directly affects the extent to which the song moves you because our brain is built to hear all The space of frequencies created by musical instruments so that without notice for more than two decades the music moves us less than in the past.

No one can be blamed for the innovative advancement that has taken us by storm. We have all embraced and adopted technology innovations but have yet to notice that we are losing natural sound quality. The irony is that today, we consume more music than ever.

The young generation that grew up on the knees of MP3 and other new technologies and wants to be musicians are quite blind to the missing frequencies that do not exist in their consciousness, and this affects the music they will be able to create. What manages to fill the missing spaces are the live performances that manage to move us more than before. This is our only chance to hear the music at any frequency.

On the one hand, the quality of the compressed sound at the forefront of technology damaged the airiness and natural texture of the song as recorded. Still, the technological means and innovations created a positive revolution and made music more accessible so that we can hear any song we like at any moment. Here is the place to point out that the technology companies are working to improve the algorithms to trace natural sound so that soon we can enjoy both worlds.

The highest peak in the sound

Today, they are working on an innovative technological development that changes the sound according to the space where the listener is, such as a large room, a small room, or even an open space — outside.

Another musical development relates to the technology in smart homes; for example, when you enter the house, the house will know how to adjust the music according to your heartbeat and speed of movement, indicating your mood.

Another innovation calls for multi-participant intelligence surveillance during a party at home, using an algorithm that knows how to interface with the guests’ cell phones, will check what music everyone likes, and try to create a playlist according to everyone’s taste.

Some claim that in the future, an algorithm will read your physical reaction to a song and will know, based on that, whether you liked it and what mood it put you in. An app like this opens up new worlds of music because it doesn’t limit you to style or rhythm or even what your friends like but to whatever makes you feel good.
