Bruce Springsteen sold his music rights to Sony Music Entertainment in the biggest deal ever made for a single artist’s actual work. The value of the agreement will be over half a billion dollars.
No public announcement has yet been made about the deal, closed in recent weeks. Billboard first reported news of the sale.
The deal, which has been gossiped about in music industry circles for weeks, includes Springsteen’s recorded music catalog and the lyrics of the songs. This will give Sony ownership of Springsteen’s complete collection, including classics like “Born to Run,” “Born in the U.S.A.” And “Blinded by the Light.”
